Teach@15 Award Program Rules

Program Information

The purpose of the Teach@15 Award program is to improve learning by helping schools (grades 7-12) meet their technology needs.

A teen member (age 13-18 ) who is a registered member ("Member") on www.at15.com ("@15 Site") can nominate his/her school (depending on eligibility) to win a Teach@15 Award.

Award

Teach@15 Awards of $1,500 will be granted to nominated schools with the most votes during a Voting Period. All awards are in the form of Best Buy Gift Cards.

The winning school will use the Teach@15 Award (awarded as a Best Buy gift card) to purchase any Best Buy products to help meet the need described by the Member in the online nomination form. At the end of each voting period, the school with the most votes will win $1,500, second most votes wins $1,000 and third most votes wins $500.

School Eligibility

  • Accredited non-profit junior or senior public, private, parochial, magnet and charter high schools (serving any grades 7-12.)
  • All schools must be non-profit.
  • All schools must be located in the United States.
  • Nominations must be made by teen Members of the @15 Site.
  • All questions on the nomination form must be answered clearly and concisely.
  • Home schools, pre-K schools/programs, after-school programs, colleges, universities and vocational-technical schools are NOT eligible.

Teach@15 Award Guidelines

  • Different Members from a single school may submit nominations, but only a maximum of one award per school per calendar year may be granted.
  • All information must be submitted using the online nomination form. Hard copy applications will not be accepted.
  • All items purchased with a Teach@15 Award are intended to benefit the students in the winning school and therefore is school property.
  • Limit one nomination per Member and email address.
  • All decisions by Best Buy regarding eligibility, qualifications and selection of winners are final.

Nomination Procedure

Members may nominate their school through the electronic online nomination process on the @15 Site.

The nomination form requires the following information:

  1. Name of Member (including all contact information provided in the @15 Site registration process).
  2. Name, address, and phone number of the school.
  3. Name of principal.
  4. Email address of principal.
  5. Detailed description of specific electronic or technology need at Member's school.
  6. Statement of expected benefit.

Members should review their nomination before submission. Once the nomination is submitted, no further changes may be made. Members can nominate their school at any time. Nominations will be immediately available for voting in the current voting period.

Members are solely responsible for submitting all information necessary for the nomination process. Nominations found to be incomplete as of the nomination deadline will not be processed or may be removed. All information submitted becomes the property of Best Buy.

Nominations will be accepted starting on September 3, 2009. Any nominations for the Teach@15 Award will be added to the current pool of nominations. Nominations from previous Voting Periods will carry over and continue to be eligible for the current Voting Period as long as the nomination received at least one vote during the previous voting period. Any nominated school that is not granted an award is eligible to participate in the next voting period. Votes are cleared at the beginning of each Voting Period. Votes do not carry over from one Voting Period to the next.

Voting Procedure

The initial fifteen voting period (a "Voting Period") is scheduled to begin on September 3, 2009. Members can vote for one nominated school once per day. A day starts at 12:00 a.m. Central Time CT and ends at 11:59 p.m. CT. If it is determined that any of the nominated schools with the most votes are ineligible to receive the award for any reason, then the award will be given to the nominated school with next highest number of votes during the Voting Period.

Voting Periods last 15 days. On September 19 and every fifteen (15) days thereafter, a new Voting Period will begin. The nominated schools from the previous Nomination Period with the most votes at 11:59 p.m. CT on the 15th day in a Voting Period will be granted the Teach@15 Awards. Winners will be subject to verification/validation.

Notification

  • Best Buy will send an award confirmation form to the winning school's principal with details on the Teach@15 Award and requesting any information required to process the gift.

Award Recipient Agreement

The Teach@15 Award of a Best Buy Gift Card is awarded to the school based on a nomination submitted by a Member and the number of votes received during a Voting Period. All equipment purchased with the Teach@15 Award Best Buy Gift Card is the property of the school and is to be used by the school to enhance and support the technology needs of the school. Gift Cards cannot be redeemed for cash and may only be used to purchase products in Best Buy stores or at BestBuy.com.

By accepting the Teach@15 Award, the school and its administration agree to use the Best Buy Gift Card to purchase technology to help meet the needs identified in the nomination form.
