@15 IMO Results

We just conducted our first teen poll—the @15 IMO (shorthand for “in my opinion”) — and the results are in! Of the 13-17 year-olds who participated in the survey, 80% want to sit down with Obama and McCain to discuss the issues important to them. The survey also revealed that 60% of teens feel that the economy is the top issue that the presidential candidates should be discussing and debating.

We also learned that the majority of teens (80%) feel that their views aren’t heard by the adult community. This is your chance to voice your opinion! What do you think about the results of our first IMO? Does it reflect your views as a teen?

Finally Heard

Wow! it looks like some adults grew ears! because i could go up to a adult and do impossible arithmetic and still not be heard, you make a website and then there like "oh wow, there trying to say something!"

We learned that teens are

We learned that teens are opinionated. Wow. That sure is crazy.

I'd rather see a poll data on how informed teens think they are, or some actual partisan data on teen opinions. It's almost as if this poll went out of its way to be nonpartisan, which, while not bad in its own right, didn't actually ask any relevant nonpartisan questions other than "do you care about politics."

i dont really get wat u r saying

That isn't surprising. I'm

That isn't surprising.

I'm saying that the poll contains somewhat pointless data. It just tells me that teens, at this moment, know enough about the election to claim they'd like to talk to the candidates or talk about their opinions. This election is a media frenzy fad, and a lot of teens are showing mild interest, but once the election is over, the teen population will likely return to it's usual political apathy.

I'd rather see data that actually shows who genuinely knows anything about politics, or who actually wants to have a hand in shaping the nation. Asking yes or no questions like "Would you like to sit down with the candidates" is just silly.

And because that's so silly, and since an actual 'political quiz' would be more of a test than a poll, the most useful poll I could think of would actually ask partisan questions to find out what teen opinions generally fall into on the political spectrum. That would be far more interesting than the bland, empty stuff that was in this poll.

Disopointed

i am kind of disopointed in their response... its not like they aswered any of our questions or compents, they pretty much just went out and said a coment

I really think that this

I really think that this shows our true voice as teenagers. We usually are afraid to voice our opinions to the older people of society, but among ourselves we generally agree with this. I really want to ask the candidates hard questions and get a true opinion out of them. It is only the right thing to do. We after all are the next generation, and we should put more questioning on the leaders of all the sections of the American government that we are in.
